Coordinate Geometry: Section Formula

Image
Hi Friends, This is the third part of the Coordinate Geometry series. The first part contains Distance Formula. The second part contains finding Area of triangle through coordinates of vertices of the triangle. .In this part, we are going to discuss about the section formula used to find the intersection point on a line which is divided in a given ratio. In the given Figure, the line joining the points (x1, y1) & (x2, y2) is divided by the point (x,y) in the ratio m:n. The coordinates of the point can be calculated by the section formula Video tutorial contain the solved examples, how it can be applied in various questions. Area of Triangle With Coordinates

Hello friends, First part of this series is about Distance Formula which is used to find the distance between two points. Hope you all are doing great. Today we are going to calculate the area of triangle. You will be thinking what's big deal about that. Given the Height & Base of triangle, one can easily find the area. But what happens if you are given the coordinates of the vertices of the triangle instead of height & base. In this post, we are going to learn how to calculate the area of triangle with the coordinates of the vertices of triangle. But first, lets understand what edges & vertices mean? Vertices : The end points of the triangle are known as triangles. It can also be said that the endpoints of sides of triangle is known as vertices. Edges : The sides of the triangle are known as the edge of the triangle. The line connecting the vertices of the triangle (or any other polygon) is known as edge. In order to find the area of triangle in the

Coordinate Geometry: Distance Formula

Hey friends, Today I am here to discuss something about Distance formula which is used to calculate the distance between two points or coordinates on the co-ordinate plane. Co-ordinate geometry is the study   where the position of point  is described using an ordered pair of numbers.   Such ordered pair looks something like (x, y), where x is the distance on x-axis of the coordinate plane & y is the distance on y-axis of the coordinate plane. where, x1: x coordinate of first point x2: x coordinate of second point y1: y coordinate of first point y2: y coordinate of second point D: Perpendicular distance between the two points. Watch the video for solved numericals based on Distance formula. I hope you will like it.
